ALGARVE RESIDENCE · ALGARVE, PORTUGAL
NEW CONSTRUCTION
In the heart of the Algarve, one of Europe’s sunniest regions with approximately 3,000 hours of sunlight per year, Onyx Solar has installed a photovoltaic canopy made of crystalline silicon glass for a luxury residence. The installation is designed to support the homeowner's goal of achieving energy self-sufficiency. Generating 200 MWh annually, this canopy powers 500 light points within the residence and contributes significantly to sustainability by preventing the release of 150 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. Additionally, with a payback time of under 3 years, this system offers both environmental and economic benefits.
EXPLORE THE INNOVATIVE FEATURES OF THIS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PROJECT
The choice of crystalline silicon glass was optimal for this project due to its high efficiency in converting sunlight into energy, even in a region known for intense solar exposure. The semi-transparent nature of the glass allows for natural light to filter through, while also providing shaded comfort to outdoor areas. The advanced glass technology offers excellent thermal insulation, helping to keep indoor spaces cooler and reducing the demand for additional air conditioning. This balance between energy production and architectural integration ensures that the photovoltaic canopy not only meets the residence’s energy needs but also adds a sleek, modern aesthetic that enhances the overall design of the home.
