Amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass features a thin, uniform layer of silicon between two glass panels, allowing light to pass through due to its inherent transparency. It offers a more aesthetic appearance than crystalline silicon (c-Si) and performs well in diffuse light conditions and vertical installations. Its maximum nominal power depends on the transparency level of the glass, which can be adjusted based on the project's needs.

Amorphous Silicon Photovoltaic glass can range from fully opaque, which provides higher nominal power, to various levels of visible light transmission, allowing daylight penetration while maintaining unobstructed views. Onyx Solar's semi-transparent photovoltaic glass also effectively filters out harmful radiation, including ultraviolet and infrared rays. However, it's important to note that while amorphous silicon glass offers clear views, its power capacity is three times lower compared to crystalline silicon glass. Crystalline silicon, therefore, offers a greater return on investment and more clean power, making it a more efficient choice.
