Onyx Solar has successfully completed the photovoltaic installation for the main skylight at Almería’s urban planning department headquarters. This project involved replacing the old conventional glass with high - performance photovoltaic glass capable of generating clean energy, creating a more energy - efficient and eco - friendly space.

The building, is a modern and spacious facility designed to house offices, multipurpose rooms, and archives. The highlight of the design is the photovoltaic skylight, which not only enhances the building’s natural lighting but also contributes to its sustainability efforts by generating renewable energy. Onyx Solar supplied rectangular amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass in varying dimensions, approximately 1,300-1,900x1,000 mm, with low transparency to balance light transmission and energy production.

The photovoltaic glass used in this project can reach a nominal power of 40 Wp per square meter and surpasses a visible light transmission and g-value of 10%, ensuring optimal light diffusion while generating clean energy. This installation not only reduces the building’s reliance on traditional energy sources but also aligns with Almería’s commitment to sustainability.
