Alzira Town Hall Skylight incorporating Amorphous Silicon Photovoltaic Technology Glass by Onyx Solar

ALZIRA TOWN HALL · VALENCIA, SPAIN

RENOVATION

The Town Hall of Alzira in Valencia now features an advanced photovoltaic skylight designed by Onyx Solar, integrating low-e amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass panels. With a semi-transparency degree of 10%, this skylight allows natural daylight to filter through, providing bright, soft illumination to the courtyard while minimizing the risk of overheating. The skylight’s solar (g) factor, ranging between 5% and 40%, ensures superior thermal regulation, making it an ideal solution for preventing the greenhouse effect in warm climates like Valencia. By balancing light and heat, the skylight enhances indoor comfort while maintaining energy efficiency.

EXPLORE THE INNOVATIVE FEATURES OF THIS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PROJECT

Beyond providing natural light, the photovoltaic glass generates over 1,000 kWh of clean energy annually, helping reduce the town hall's reliance on traditional energy sources. With a total installed power capacity of 5.1 kWp, this installation contributes to the sustainability of the building, preventing the release of nearly 1 ton of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

This project not only reinforces Alzira Town Hall’s commitment to sustainability but also demonstrates the innovative potential of integrating photovoltaic technology into public buildings, setting a benchmark for eco-friendly architecture in urban environments.
