BIPVBOOST
BRINGING DOWN COSTS OF BIPV MULTIFUNCTIONAL SOLUTIONS AND PROCESSES ALONG THE VALUE CHAIN, ENABLING WIDESPREAD NZEBS IMPLEMENTATION
Programme: H2020. European Commission.
The BIPVBOOST project is dedicated to advancing building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) technology by lowering costs and improving efficiency. Our mission is to address critical market requirements, facilitating widespread adoption in nearly zero-energy buildings (nZEBs).
Historically, the growth of BIPV solutions has been impeded by challenges in achieving aesthetic appeal, design flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. BIPVBOOST tackles these issues through a collaborative approach to developing high-efficiency, multifunctional energy-producing materials, boosting global market opportunities for the European photovoltaic (PV) and construction industries.
Key Focus Areas:
- Cost Reduction: Implementing strategies to significantly lower BIPV solution costs across the value chain.
- Manufacturing Innovation: Developing flexible and automated BIPV production processes to enhance efficiency.
- Product Diversity: Expanding the portfolio with advanced, multifunctional BIPV products.
- Digital Integration: Leveraging digital tools for improved process and energy management.
- Standardization: Advancing standards for the mass implementation of BIPV systems in building envelopes.
TECNALIA leads the BIPVBOOST project, partnering with 19 organizations from 7 European countries, including key industrial and research entities. The project aims to deliver at least 17 innovative solutions, targeting a 50% reduction in BIPV module costs by 2020, with an ambitious goal of a 75% reduction by 2030.
Project Status: Ongoing.
