Car Barn Training Center canopy incorporating Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Technology Glass by Onyx Solar

CAR BARN TRAINING CENTER · WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES

NEW CONSTRUCTION

Designed by ZGF Architects, the Car Barn Training Center in Washington, D.C., showcases sustainable architecture with the integration of a photovoltaic canopy featuring Onyx Solar’s advanced mono-crystalline silicon glass-on-glass units. This project demonstrates the seamless incorporation of renewable energy solutions into modern infrastructure.

The photovoltaic glass panels consist of two layers of 5/16" fully tempered glass, with 36 embedded 6" solar cells providing both durability and energy efficiency. The design includes precision drilling to accommodate spider fittings, ensuring a secure and aesthetically pleasing installation. The total system has a power output of 5.76 kWp, generating clean, renewable energy to reduce the center’s carbon footprint and energy costs.

EXPLORE THE INNOVATIVE FEATURES OF THIS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PROJECT

The choice of photovoltaic glass for this project was ideal for both aesthetic and functional purposes. The glass-on-glass configuration provides excellent structural integrity while allowing the generation of energy directly from sunlight, reducing the building’s dependence on external energy sources. The installation contributes to the overall energy efficiency of the facility, as well as its environmental impact, by harnessing renewable energy without compromising the modern and sleek design of the building.
