COMPUTECH CITY · ORLANDO, UNITED STATES
NEW CONSTRUCTION
The headquarters of CompuTech in Florida feature a cantilevered canopy that surrounds the building’s roof. This project includes a photovoltaic (PV) canopy made of crystalline silicon laminated safety glass, which is not only aesthetically pleasing but also provides a highly efficient source of clean and free energy. Such a capability is particularly important for companies like CompuTech, aligning with their commitment to sustainability, technology, and innovation.
The choice of photovoltaic glass for this project perfectly meets the building’s energy efficiency and design goals. With a nominal power reaching 114 Wp per square meter, the photovoltaic glass generates substantial renewable energy, helping CompuTech reduce its operational costs while reinforcing its sustainable mission. The 40% visible light transmission ensures that the canopy allows ample natural light to filter through, creating a bright, welcoming space beneath while maintaining shade. In addition, the 40% solar factor helps control heat gain, reducing the building’s cooling requirements, which is particularly important in Orlando’s hot climate. This integration of advanced photovoltaic technology not only enhances the visual appeal of the headquarters but also serves a functional role in energy generation and climate control, making it a smart, eco-friendly solution for a tech-forward company like CompuTech.
HGA is a national multidisciplinary design firm that specializes in architecture, engineering, and planning. With a strong focus on sustainability and human-centered design, they aim to create environments that enhance performance and well-being. Their approach to green design is well-aligned with Onyx Solar's photovoltaic glass, which could be integrated into their projects to boost energy efficiency. By incorporating PV glass, HGA can further reduce the carbon footprint of their buildings, offering renewable energy while maintaining high design standards.
