CONIL CITY HALL · CONIL, SPAIN
RENOVATION
The Town Hall of Conil in Spain has undergone a transformative update, embracing modernity and sustainability through the incorporation of a crystalline silicon photovoltaic skylight. This innovative photovoltaic glass features a double glazing unit configuration coupled with a low-e coating, enhancing the thermal insulation of the installation. Simultaneously, it introduces natural light into the building, offering an impressive average of 25% visible light transmission (VLT). With a total system size of 12.20 kWp, this photovoltaic skylight generates approximately 19,000 kWh/year. This substantial output provides ample energy to power 1,100 LED light-points for 8 hours each day, marking a significant stride towards sustainability for the Town Hall of Conil.
The photovoltaic glass chosen for Conil’s City Hall was tailored to meet the specific energy and environmental goals of the building. Its excellent thermal performance ensures that the structure remains cool during Spain’s hot summer months, reducing the need for air conditioning and lowering overall energy consumption. The photovoltaic glass not only generates clean, renewable energy but also enhances occupant comfort by blocking harmful UV and IR radiation, protecting the interior while maintaining a steady indoor climate.
By integrating this photovoltaic solution into the building’s architecture, Conil City Hall exemplifies how sustainability can be achieved without sacrificing aesthetic appeal. The semi-transparent nature of the glass allows abundant natural light to flood the interior, creating a bright and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors. This project is a clear example of how photovoltaic glass can address both energy needs and architectural specifications, aligning perfectly with the city’s vision of reducing its carbon footprint while embracing modern design principles.
Conil City Hall is deeply committed to promoting sustainability and preserving the natural beauty of the region. As part of its environmental initiatives, the municipality is focused on integrating renewable energy solutions into its public infrastructure. By choosing Onyx Solar’s photovoltaic glass for this project, Conil City Hall enhances energy efficiency, reduces carbon emissions, and contributes to a more sustainable future for the community.
