TECHNOLOGY CENTER · CYPRUS INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY
NEW CONSTRUCTION
Cyprus International University’s Science and Technology Center stands as a groundbreaking architectural achievement, setting a new standard for sustainable innovation. The building features the largest photovoltaic façade in the country, covering over 1,000 square meters (10,760 sq ft) of amorphous silicon glass. This advanced installation not only elevates the university's status as a leader in clean energy but also serves as an educational model for students, encouraging them to explore sustainable technologies and research.
The photovoltaic glass selected for this project has a nominal power that can reach 62 Wp per square meter, aligning with the energy efficiency needs of the building. Its 0% visible light transmittance (VLT) makes it completely opaque, ensuring privacy and offering excellent thermal insulation. With a solar factor (g-value) of 23%, the photovoltaic glass helps manage solar heat gain, reducing the building’s cooling requirements and ensuring a comfortable indoor environment, even in the warm climate of Cyprus.
Additionally, the external light reflection rate of 8% provides a sleek aesthetic while minimizing glare, contributing to the building’s modern and professional appearance. This integration of energy-generating technology with high-performance thermal and solar control exemplifies how sustainable solutions can be seamlessly embedded into architectural designs. The Science and Technology Center continues to set a new benchmark for academic institutions committed to sustainability and innovation.
