FREEDOM PARIS · PARIS, FRANCE
Onyx Solar’s innovative photovoltaic glass has been prominently featured in the Freedom Building, located in Paris, France. Opting for amorphous silicon glass with a 27% visible light transmittance level, the design seamlessly integrates aesthetic appeal with functionality. It allows for unobstructed views while harnessing clean, free solar energy.
The glass’s 37% g-value provides efficient thermal control, allowing optimal solar heat gain during colder months while minimizing overheating in the summer. This balance is crucial for a city like Paris, where maintaining internal comfort without excessive energy use is key. By controlling solar heat gain, the building reduces its reliance on artificial cooling and heating systems, lowering energy costs.
Moreover, the photovoltaic glass has a nominal power output of 28Wp per square meter, making the building an active contributor to its energy needs. This feature not only decreases its dependency on external energy sources but also supports Paris' sustainability goals. The building becomes a self-sufficient energy generator, which is essential in densely populated urban areas.
The Freedom Building also benefits from the amorphous silicon glass's efficiency in low-light conditions, ensuring reliable energy generation even on cloudy Parisian days. Additionally, the glass is fully customizable, allowing for a perfect blend of architectural vision and functional performance, creating a sleek, modern façade that fits the client's needs.
