Larsen & Toubro is an Indian multinational engaged in EPC Projects that operates in more than 50 countries. They partnered with Onyx Solar to incorporate a cutting-edge photovoltaic curtain wall made of amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass into their own offices in India. The photovoltaic installation utilizes Onyx Solar’s 10% light transmittance photovoltaic glass in a complex configuration, combining both rectangular units and trapezoidal ones. Each insulated photovoltaic glass unit incorporates argon spacer to achieve the thermal insulation required by customer. The solar heat gain coeficient was also optimized following customer's requirements to improve comfort and productivity of its workforce.
This innovative photovoltaic glass solution aligns perfectly with the building’s architectural vision and sustainability goals. The integration of natural light helps to create an open, pleasant environment for employees while maintaining energy efficiency and climate control. The unique combination of glass shapes adds a modern aesthetic to the headquarters, reflecting the forward-thinking nature of Larsen & Toubro. By harnessing renewable energy through the façade, the building reduces its environmental footprint and operational costs, contributing to a more sustainable corporate infrastructure. This project demonstrates how photovoltaic glass can be seamlessly integrated into the design of high-performance commercial spaces, enhancing both functionality and visual appeal.
