Le Petit Echo de la Mode Skylight incorporating Amorphous Silicon Photovoltaic Technology Glass by Onyx Solar

LE PETIT ECHO DE LA MODE ·  BRITTANY, FRANCE

RENOVATION

Onyx Solar participated in the rehabilitation of the historic building Le Petit Écho de la Mode in collaboration with SPIE. Located in France, the building preserves the spirit of Eiffel with its metal structure, considered national heritage. The photovoltaic skylight harnesses solar energy to generate electricity in a sustainable way. This not only reduces dependence on non-renewable energy sources, but also contributes to the mitigation of the building's carbon footprint, aligning with environmental and energy efficiency goals. The semi-transparency of the photovoltaic glass allows the entry of natural light, creating a brighter and more pleasant interior environment. This aspect is crucial as it improves the visitor experience, provides a more welcoming environment and reduces the need for artificial lighting during the day.

EXPLORE THE INNOVATIVE FEATURES OF THIS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PROJECT

The photovoltaic glass used in this project was specifically chosen to complement both the building’s historic character and its sustainability objectives. Its semi-transparent design preserves the visual integrity of the original structure while seamlessly integrating modern technology. By generating clean energy, the photovoltaic glass reduces operational costs and contributes to the building’s long-term environmental goals. The balance between functionality and aesthetic sensitivity ensures that Le Petit Écho de la Mode retains its cultural significance while embracing a sustainable future, setting an example of how heritage buildings can adapt to modern energy demands.
