Madrona Marsh Center Photovoltaic Amorphous Canopy by Onyx Solar

MADRONA MARSH CENTER · LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATES

NEW CONSTRUCTION

The Madrona Marsh Nature Center in Torrance, Los Angeles, is a natural reserve that offers visitors the opportunity to explore and learn about nature’s beauty and biodiversity.

Onyx Solar contributed to the sustainability of the center by providing photovoltaic glass for its integrated canopy. Using amorphous silicon technology, the canopy allows natural light to filter through while blocking 99% of harmful UV radiation. In addition to enhancing the center’s energy efficiency, the installation generates clean, renewable energy, reducing CO2 emissions and contributing to the center’s environmental goals.

EXPLORE THE INNOVATIVE FEATURES OF THIS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PROJECT

The choice of photovoltaic glass for the Madrona Marsh Center was particularly suited to this project’s objectives. With a visible light transmission (VLT) and solar factor (g-value) both surpassing 15%, the glass offers an optimal balance between daylight and energy performance. This ensures the interior remains well-lit while minimizing solar heat gain, reducing the need for additional cooling. The photovoltaic glass seamlessly integrates with the building’s architecture, providing a modern, sustainable solution that aligns with the center’s mission of environmental preservation and education.
