NEUTRALPATH
Pathway towards Climate-Neutrality through low risky and fully replicable Positive Clean Energy Districts.
Programme: HORIZON EUROPE. European Commission.
The NEUTRALPATH project aims to showcase the benefits of Positive and Clean Energy Districts (PCED) designed through citizen-focused, participatory processes. This initiative will drive the transformation of cities toward climate-neutrality by 2030 and accelerate emission reductions.
Key Cities and Initiatives:
- Lighthouse Cities: Dresden (Germany) and Zaragoza (Spain) will serve as pioneers, implementing positive energy districts and creating Urban Laboratories of Climate-Neutrality (CN-Lab). These labs will act as innovation hubs, fostering co-creation with all stakeholders.
- Partner Cities: Istanbul (Turkey), Ghent (Belgium), and Vantaa (Finland) will also develop Urban Laboratories and collaborate with Lighthouse Cities to ensure replicability across Europe.
Objectives:
- Deploy 5 Urban Labs: In Lighthouse and Partner Cities to advance climate-neutrality.
- Innovative Governance: Develop strategies to improve administrative, financial, and political processes for achieving climate-neutrality by 2030.
- Demonstrate Deployment: Technically, economically, and socially showcase two positive energy districts, integrating demand reduction, renewable energy, and electric mobility.
- Metrics and Evaluation: Define metrics to assess energy balance and emissions in positive energy districts.
- Long-Term Impact: Evaluate the transformation potential of positive energy districts, focusing on transferability, scalability, and replicability.
Onyx Solar contributes to NEUTRALPATH as a key member of Zaragoza's Lighthouse ecosystem, developing and adapting solutions at demo sites.
