PANAMA PACIFIC · HOWARD, PANAMA
London & Regional, one of Europe’s largest private real estate companies, is behind the development of Panama Pacific, a vast multi-use complex located on the former Howard Air Base, west of Panama. This innovative space combines residential, recreational, and business elements to create a thriving community focused on sustainability.
As part of this project, Onyx Solar contributed to the construction of an amorphous silicon photovoltaic canopy for one of the buildings. The photovoltaic glass used has a semi-transparency degree of 10%, allowing for natural light while generating renewable energy. With a total installed power capacity of 5.1 kWp, the canopy generates 7,300 kWh of clean energy annually, helping to reduce the building’s carbon footprint while supporting the energy needs of the community.
The choice of amorphous silicon glass is particularly suitable for Panama’s tropical climate, where high solar exposure is constant. The photovoltaic glass also includes an air chamber that improves the thermal insulation of the canopy, contributing to more comfortable shaded areas. The system’s combination of energy efficiency and thermal comfort supports Panama Pacific’s vision of integrating sustainable building technologies, positioning the development as a leading example of environmental responsibility.
