Onyx Solar supplied colored amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass for the SJD Pediatric Cancer Center's fins system in Barcelona, Spain. The installation consists of medium transparency amorphous silicon glass units that come in four different colors, and a variety of dimensions and configurations. The selection of soothing cheerful colors contributes to a welcoming and positive atmosphere, which is vital in healthcare environments, especially those designed for children. This set-up not only provides shading but also improves the building's visual appeal, perfectly aligning with the architectural demands and fulfilling the client's specifications while generating energy in situ, filter the harmful radiation & heat.
The photovoltaic glass, tailored to the center’s design, strikes a balance between energy efficiency and comfort, ideal for a healthcare setting. Its ability to filter natural light while blocking harmful UV and infrared rays ensures a safe and pleasant environment for patients. By reaching a nominal power of 34 Wp per square meter, the glass reduces energy demand by generating clean power on-site. Its custom design not only addresses functional needs, such as heat and light control, but also adds a visually appealing element to the center’s exterior, creating a comforting, supportive space for patients and their families.
