Green Integrations Builders Co (GIBCO), in partnership with Onyx Solar, has developed an innovative photovoltaic bench in Panama. Equipped with Onyx Solar’s advanced photovoltaic glass, this bench offers a practical feature, a USB port for charging phones and devices, powered entirely by solar energy. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to sustainable urban solutions. The bench’s integration of solar energy helps reduce reliance on traditional power sources while enhancing the functionality of public spaces. By providing clean energy in an everyday setting, the project exemplifies how renewable technology can enrich city infrastructure.

This groundbreaking project is a testament to Onyx Solar’s innovation and expertise, having been recognized with multiple awards for developing and patenting the world’s first non-slip photovoltaic glass floor. The walkable photovoltaic floor not only enhances the campus’s energy efficiency but also aligns with GWU’s sustainability goals, integrating renewable energy into functional, everyday architecture.

EXPLORE THE INNOVATIVE FEATURES OF THIS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PROJECT

The photovoltaic glass used for this project is an ideal solution for the bench’s design and functionality. With the ability to reach a nominal power of 12 Wp per square meter, this photovoltaic glass generates enough clean energy to power the bench’s USB ports while maintaining a sleek, modern appearance. Its 0% visible light transmission and solar factor ensure that the glass absorbs maximum sunlight. The durable and frameless design of the photovoltaic glass makes it a robust solution for outdoor urban environments, ensuring longevity even in harsh weather conditions.
