BUS STOP · ZARAGOZA, SPAIN
PHOTOVOLTAIC BUS STOP · CRYSTALLINE SILICON TECHNOLOGY
Onyx Solar has successfully completed an innovative street furniture project in Zaragoza, Spain, integrating advanced crystalline silicon photovoltaic technology into a modern bus stop. This energy-efficient installation represents a step forward in creating more sustainable urban spaces by utilizing clean, renewable energy.
The bus stop is powered by photovoltaic glass, which charges energy storage batteries discreetly placed within the seating area. This clean energy powers the information screen and LED lighting, ensuring the bus stop remains fully functional day and night without relying on the traditional power grid. To enhance energy efficiency, the system includes a twilight presence detector and a push button, ensuring that the devices are only activated when needed, minimizing unnecessary energy consumption.
The photovoltaic glass used for this project is particularly well - suited for the bus stop’s design and functionality. With the ability to reach a nominal power of 160 Wp per square meter, the photovoltaic glass generates ample clean energy to meet the structure's low power demands. Its 0% visible light transmission and solar factor ensure the bus stop remains shaded, providing a cooler waiting environment for passengers during hot days while maximizing energy absorption. By integrating photovoltaic glass with no visible transparency, the bus stop maintains its sleek, modern aesthetic while delivering practical energy-saving benefits. This project demonstrates how photovoltaic technology can be seamlessly incorporated into public infrastructure, reducing environmental impact while offering a functional and visually appealing solution for modern urban spaces. This installation in Zaragoza sets a precedent for future city-wide efforts to implement sustainable, energy-efficient solutions in public spaces.
