Onyx Solar has provided crystalline silicon photovoltaic glass for a demonstration canopy at the headquarters of Sustainable Planet Advisors in Artana, Castellon. This innovative project showcases how functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability can work together to reduce energy costs and contribute to environmental conservation. The photovoltaic canopy is located in the main parking area of the offices, encouraging sustainable transport options among employees.
The installation consists of 9 crystalline silicon glass modules, each measuring 1,700 x 1,000 mm and containing 60 monocrystalline cells. With a total peak power of 2.5 kWp, the canopy provides clean energy while complementing the architectural design. Each glass panels is configured with 4T+4T double laminated and tempered glass, featuring rear connection boxes for efficient power generation. Beyond its technical capabilities, this canopy serves as a practical example of how businesses can integrate renewable energy solutions into their infrastructure while supporting sustainability goals.
The photovoltaic glass used in this project was carefully selected to meet the specific needs of Sustainable Planet Advisors' headquarters, offering an optimal balance between energy generation and architectural appeal. It can reach a nominal power of 142 Wp per square meter, the crystalline silicon glass ensures that the installation delivers substantial clean energy, aligning perfectly with the company’s focus on sustainability. The glass modules provide a 15% visible light transmission (VLT), allowing natural light to pass through while maintaining shade and comfort for the parking area beneath.
Additionally, the g-value of 15% helps reduce solar heat gain, improving thermal regulation and further lowering the need for artificial cooling. This characteristic not only supports energy savings but also enhances the comfort of the surrounding spaces, particularly in sunny climates like Castellon. The combination of high efficiency and advanced performance makes this photovoltaic canopy a practical and visually appealing solution, demonstrating how renewable energy technology can be seamlessly integrated into everyday business infrastructure while contributing to a greener future.
