FLORIANA PROJECT HOUSE · FLORIANA, MALTA
NEW CONSTRUCTION
Onyx Solar has supplied cutting-edge photovoltaic glass for the refurbishment of Project House, a governmental building located in Floriana, Malta. This installation integrates a photovoltaic ventilated façade, enhancing the building’s energy performance and contributing to its sustainability goals. The façade consists of 204 Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Glass units with a 4T+4T glass configuration, featuring monocrystalline solar cells. The glass modules were custom-designed in nine different sizes, ranging from 912 x 678 mm to 1,700 x 1,000 mm, to perfectly fit the existing structure of the building.
This project, located in Triq Francesco Buonamici, adjacent to Malta’s capital city, Valletta, is part of a broader initiative by the Maltese Central Government to improve the energy efficiency of its facilities.
The photovoltaic glass can reach a nominal power of 163 Wp per square meter, ensuring optimal energy production for the building. Additionally, both its visible light transmission (VLT) and solar factor (g-value) surpass 20%, striking a balance between energy efficiency and natural light management. This integration aligns with Malta's broader efforts to increase the sustainability of its public infrastructure, reducing its carbon footprint while maintaining architectural integrity.
