FIVE Holdings is a Dubai-based vertically integrated real estate development and hospitality group. It owns among other brands Pacha. FIVE Hotels and Resorts focus on developing high quality properties while providing top entertainment and luxurious lifestyle experiences to their guests in world-class sustainable properties built with state-of-the art technology. Onyx Solar provided its energy-generating building materials for an innovative 4,400 m2 ventilated façade system installed on Sensoria Tower, in Dubai. This façade produce an huge amount of clean power thanks to the sun and provide unbeatable thermal insulation to ensure the comfort of Sensoria's customers.
This laminated safety glass was produced in white and grey colors and incorporated our technology and know-how to hide crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells to create pieces with a totally homogeneous surface that harvest a huge amount of clean energy from the sun. The façade was built with triangular-shaped photovoltaic glass panels to create a visually 3D façade that resembled the aesthetic of a large soundproof foam pattern, a clear statement of FIVE’s commitment to sustainability and fun! This visually textured façade was made with colored photovoltaic triangular material that was 3,280 mm long and 1,643 mm high.
The choice of photovoltaic glass for the Sensoria Tower was an ideal match for this ambitious project, aligning perfectly with its architectural goals and sustainability targets. Dubai’s extreme heat conditions required a solution that not only generated energy but also offered significant thermal insulation. The photovoltaic glass used in this project met both requirements effortlessly, reflecting the innovative vision behind the building. The glass’s ability to filter harmful UV and infrared radiation ensures a cooler interior environment, minimizing the need for excessive air conditioning and, consequently, lowering energy consumption. Moreover, the customizable nature of Onyx Solar’s glass allowed it to seamlessly blend with the avant-garde design, maintaining the tower's aesthetic appeal while enhancing its environmental performance.
This project reflects how state-of-the-art technology can be adapted to the client’s unique specifications, proving that sustainability does not have to compromise luxury or design. Sensoria Tower's façade is not only an energy generator but also a testament to the future of smart, bioclimatic architecture.
