RESIDENTIAL HONG KONG · HONG KONG, CHINA
Onyx Solar has provided state-of-the-art photovoltaic floor tiles for the rooftop of Avignon Tower 6, a residential building in Hong Kong. This cutting-edge installation integrates sustainable energy solutions into the building’s design while offering functional, durable flooring.
The photovoltaic flooring features low-transparency amorphous silicon glass, chosen for its excellent energy-generating capabilities and sleek appearance. To ensure safety in all weather conditions, the tiles are equipped with a non-slip coating, making them ideal for outdoor environments. In total, 30 tiles, each measuring 600x600 mm, have been installed with a precise 6+3+6 mm laminated configuration, ensuring durability and high performance over time.
This rooftop installation can reach a nominal power of 133 Wp per square meter, contributing significantly to the building’s energy efficiency. Additionally, the photovoltaic tiles have both a visible light transmission (VLT) and g-value of 0%, meaning they provide full opacity while maximizing solar energy generation. This makes them highly effective in urban settings like Hong Kong, where maximizing clean energy production is essential, even in limited spaces. By integrating photovoltaic technology into the rooftop flooring, Avignon Tower 6 sets a new standard for sustainable residential living in Hong Kong. This project showcases how renewable energy solutions can be seamlessly incorporated into everyday spaces, providing both functionality and a reduced environmental footprint.
