STATE FOOTBALL CENTER · PERTH, AUSTRALIA
RENOVATION
Sam Kerr Football Center, in Perth, installed crystalline silicon photovoltaic glass manufactured by Onyx Solar in Spain. The glass design was fully customized according to the client's instructions and integrated as glazed shade structures. The photovoltaic glass incorporates a high number of cells per square meter with the goal of maximizing the amount of energy generated per square meter and filtering the greatest amount of harmful radiation while allowing a significant amount of natural light to enter.
The photovoltaic glass chosen for the State Football Center was an excellent match for both the aesthetic and functional requirements of the building. The high density of solar cells ensures that the glass can reach optimal energy efficiency, making it a sustainable solution to support the facility's energy demands. Additionally, its ability to filter harmful UV and infrared radiation while still permitting ample natural light enhances the overall comfort for players and visitors alike, creating a well-lit yet protected environment. Given Perth's sunny climate, this balance between light transmission and heat mitigation is essential for maintaining indoor temperatures and reducing the need for artificial cooling. The customized design allows the photovoltaic glass to seamlessly blend into the architectural concept, contributing to the center's modern and eco-friendly profile. This project is a clear demonstration of how photovoltaic glass can be tailored to meet the specific environmental, energy, and design needs of sports facilities.
