CELLIA MOCKUP · POGGIO TORRIANA, ITALY
Onyx Solar has supplied its advanced photovoltaic glass for the creation of a photovoltaic spandrel for the innovative Cellia mock-up, a prefabricated façade module developed in collaboration with CMR Progetto and Focchi Group, located in Poggio Torriana, Italy. This prototype incorporates two distinct photovoltaic solutions: vertical fins made of medium-transparency amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass, each measuring 500x3,300 mm with a glass configuration of 6T+3.2+6T, and a horizontal sunshade composed of monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic glass panels, measuring 592x1,474 mm with an 8T+8T configuration. These modules were supplied in close collaboration with R2M Solution, Onyx Solar's official distributor for Italy and France.
The Cellia project, also known as Cellula InterAttiva, is the result of a collaboration among leading companies with complementary expertise. The Focchi Group is responsible for developing the building envelope, transforming the façade into a high-performance skin that integrates innovative materials, technologies (IoT, sensors, systems), and photovoltaic power generation.
Cellia’s standout feature is its integration of air conditioning, ventilation, and photovoltaic energy generation into a single module. Additionally, it incorporates customizable brise-soleil systems, motorized blinds, and internal/external LED lighting, providing a complete solution for shading, energy efficiency, and environmental control.
“The idea of developing a super technological facade and energy-efficient, integrating the most important building components, came to us many years ago. The demand for high-performance and efficient buildings in Italy is always increasing, but Real Estate offer has a strong lack in this sense: Cellia wants to be the tool for filling this gap, ensuring maximum flexibility in design and construction, as well as absolute customization”
