RESIDENCIAL BUILDING · MESTRE, ITALY
PARAPETS · CRYSTALLINE SILICON TECHNOLOGY
NEW CONSTRUCTION
Onyx Solar delivered fully customized BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaics) solutions for the renovation of a four-story residential building in Mestre, northeastern Italy. Tailored to the client’s specific requirements, the project focused on boosting energy efficiency while seamlessly integrating photovoltaic technology into the building’s design. The installation features monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic glass panels used as parapets, designed in three different dimensions and configured with a 4T+4T glass structure. With a transparency level of 43%, these glass panels blend effortlessly into the building’s façade, adding both functional energy production and aesthetic appeal.
The photovoltaic glass significantly improves the building's energy performance by generating clean energy, it can reach a nominal power of 105 Wp per square meter. This contributes to reducing the building's overall energy consumption, aligning with sustainability goals and lowering its carbon footprint.
In addition to its energy-generating capabilities, the photovoltaic glass enhances the building’s modern architectural appearance, providing a sleek and contemporary finish. The glass can reach a nominal power of 105 Wp per square meter, and both the Visible Light Transmission (VLT) and solar factor (g-value) surpass 40%, ensuring optimal energy efficiency while allowing natural light to flood the interior spaces. This project exemplifies how innovative energy-efficient technologies can complement modern design, demonstrating that environmental responsibility can be achieved without compromising on aesthetics.
Supported by R2M Solution, Onyx Solar’s local partner in Italy and France, this installation highlights the growing trend toward sustainable renovations in residential buildings throughout Italy.
