RESPONSE

Integrated Solutions for Positive energy and resilient Cities

Programme: H2020. European Commission.

RESPONSE is a smart city initiative designed to create Positive Energy Blocks (PEBs) and districts where renewable energy generation surpasses local consumption. This project focuses on Lighthouse cities Dijon (France) and Turku (Finland), along with Fellow Cities Brussels (Belgium), Zaragoza (Spain), Botosani (Romania), Ptolemaida (Greece), Gabrovo (Bulgaria), and Severodonetsk (Ukraine).

RESPONSE aims to achieve significant energy and environmental impacts: a local renewable energy supply of 11.2 GWh/year, energy savings of 3,090 MWh/year, and a reduction of 9,799 tons of CO2 equivalent per year. The project emphasizes resilient and safe urban environments, enhancing quality of life and mitigating climate change effects.

The project will showcase 10 integrated solutions and 86 innovative technologies, each monitored with specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). RESPONSE will also drive interest through new business models, offering a validated roadmap for replicating these solutions across Europe and beyond.

Key Transformation Areas include:

  1. Upgrading buildings to Energy Positive and Smart-ready.
  2. Decarbonizing electricity grids and district heating/cooling systems.
  3. Developing grid flexibility strategies and advanced storage systems.
  4. Integrating City Information Platforms (CIPs) with digital services and smart e-Mobility.
  5. Fostering citizen engagement and co-creation to shape future city visions.

ONYX Solar contributes to RESPONSE as part of Dijon’s lighthouse ecosystem, enhancing and adapting BIPV solutions to meet project goals.
