RODRIGO CARO GARDENS · BARCELONA, SPAIN

NEW CONSTRUCTION

How can you efficiently, economically, and sustainably power 600 lights in a public park? The Barcelona City Council, driven by its strong commitment to sustainability, found the answer: photovoltaic glass.

To enhance both energy efficiency and public comfort, three stunning photovoltaic glass pergolas were installed at Rodrigo Caro Gardens. These solar glass modules not only provide shade for park visitors but also generate nearly 11,000 kWh of clean, renewable energy every year, enough to power the park’s 600 lights, all at zero cost, thanks to the sun. Each photovoltaic glass module measures 1,255 x 1,240 mm with a power capacity of 183 Wp, making this installation a shining example of how solar technology can contribute to urban sustainability.

EXPLORE THE INNOVATIVE FEATURES OF THIS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PROJECT

The choice of photovoltaic glass for this project was ideal, given the region's abundant sunlight and the city’s commitment to green urban spaces. The photovoltaic glass integrates seamlessly with the park’s design, offering an aesthetic appeal while performing as a highly efficient energy solution. These glass panels are equipped with cutting-edge amorphous silicon technology, which works effectively in both direct sunlight and lower-light conditions, ensuring continuous energy production throughout the day. Furthermore, the glass offers superior UV and infrared filtering, helping reduce heat buildup while allowing natural light to create a comfortable, shaded space for park visitors.
