Onyx Solar has supplied its amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass that has been installed as a photovoltaic curtain wall in the Sea Towers, located in the city of Barcelona, Spain.

The installation has 1,520 m² and is composed of 985 units of amorphous silicon photovoltaic glasses with different dimensions. Each glass has a thermosetting glass frit and a 12 mm air chamber, that will improve the thermal and acoustic isolation of the building.

 

 

 

 

Our solar PV glass was installed in the curtain wall of the Sea Towers, an office and residential complex located Icaria Avenue in the 22@ district, the main technological and digital hub of Barcelona and one of the most important around the globe.

 

 

 

 

The building complex is the third building in Spain to achieve the LEED Platinum certificate, the most prestigious qualification of this certification system. The towers have a 52 % energy saving and 66% savings in water consumption thanks to their sustainable and innovative design and the use of green technologies, such as photovoltaic glass.

 

 

 

 

Sea Towers are totally refurbished constructions that include a 360 degrees vision of the city and a privileged location facing the sea. They also have vegetation in the private terraces and 580 m² of green spaces in the surroundings of the complex. Their occupant can also enjoy a lot of amenities such as EV charging points, bike storage pots, restaurants, sports facilities, water sports, showers, and changing spaces, among others.

 

 

 

 

At the time of signing the project, the building complex was property of Meridia Capital (the leading Real Estate and investment company in Spain), and its main tenant is NTT Data, which is one of the most important Cloud and IT services multinationals around the globe. On April 2022, Meridia Capital sold Sea Towers to Allianz Real Estate for 185 million €.
