Solar Tree canopy featuring Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Technology Glass by Onyx Solar

SOLAR TREE · NABLUS, PALESTINE

NEW CONSTRUCTION

Onyx Solar supplied crystalline silicon photovoltaic glass for the creation of a solar tree canopy at the Center for International Grants and Projects at An-Najah National University in Nablus, Palestine. This unique installation, the first solar tree of its kind in Palestine, showcases the university’s commitment to sustainable energy. The installation features 12 crystalline silicon glass modules, each measuring 1,700 x 1,000 mm with a 4T + 4T mm configuration. These glass panels are seamlessly integrated into the metal structure, forming the solar tree, which stands 3.5 meters tall with three branches, each connected to a solar panel. The system generates enough electricity to charge up to 100 devices, including computers, mobile phones, and wheelchairs, while also powering 20 LED lamps. The lighting can be controlled and adjusted during the night for optimal energy use.

EXPLORE THE INNOVATIVE FEATURES OF THIS SUSTAINABLE ENERGY PROJECT

The photovoltaic glass used in this project was specifically chosen for its adaptability to outdoor conditions and its ability to provide a combination of functionality and sustainability. Its high efficiency and durability ensure optimal energy generation while being able to withstand harsh weather conditions. This installation is not only a testament to Onyx Solar’s innovative approach but also offers a practical solution that promotes renewable energy awareness among students and staff. The solar tree serves as a symbol of the university’s forward-thinking approach to environmental responsibility, enhancing the campus both aesthetically and functionally.

An-Najah National University, one of the leading institutions in Palestine with more than 23,000 students across 11 faculties, will benefit greatly from this installation. The solar tree provides shade for students while also raising awareness of renewable energy solutions. Additionally, the project will help reduce CO2 emissions by 550 tons annually, cutting the need for diesel fuel during power outages and improving the services available to both students and staff.
