TECH4WIN
Tech4Win Project: Pioneering Transparent Photovoltaic Windows for Sustainable Energy
The Tech4Win project tackles a significant challenge in the Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) sector: creating a fully transparent photovoltaic (PV) window that excels in transparency, energy generation, durability, and discreet wiring.
This innovative project develops a transparent photovoltaic window using a tandem structure approach. The design integrates an organic IR-selective PV device with an inorganic UV-filtering coating. This combination not only generates renewable energy but also enhances the window’s durability by protecting it from ultraviolet rays.
Key Features:
- Tandem Structure: Merges organic PV technology with UV-filtering inorganic coating.
- High Transparency: Achieves a clear view while producing energy.
- Enhanced Durability: UV protection extends lifespan.
- Sustainable Manufacturing: Cost-effective, reduces use of critical materials.
Consortium Overview:
- 8 Partners from 5 countries
- 4 Research Organizations
- 3 Tech-based SMEs
- 1 Major Corporation
- Led by Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC)
Onyx Solar’s Role:
- Design: Develops the PV window design.
- Scalability: Advances prototype production.
- Management: Oversees exploitation, dissemination, and intellectual property rights (IPR).
The Tech4Win project is a pivotal step towards achieving fully transparent PV windows and advancing sustainable energy solutions in the building industry.
