TONY GALLARDO PARK · GRAN CANARIA, SPAIN
RENOVATION
Onyx Solar actively participated in the transformation of this park by providing energy generating glass for the installation of a photovoltaic canopy that works like a shaded walkway area offering a pleasant experience for visitors. The cell density design was customized to achieve the best balance between nominal power, visible light transmittance and solar heat gain coefficient. The aim stated by our customer is to optimize resources as much as possible, in favor of minimal maintenance and a reduction in energy consumption.
The photovoltaic glass chosen for this project was specifically designed to meet the unique environmental and aesthetic needs of the park. With a nominal power reaching 109 Wp per square meter, this photovoltaic glass efficiently generates clean energy while supporting the park’s sustainability goals. Its visible light transmission and solar factor, both surpassing 40%, allow ample natural light to pass through the canopy, creating a well-lit and comfortable shaded area without overwhelming heat gain. This balance ensures that visitors enjoy a comfortable environment during sunny days while still benefiting from the cooling effects of the shading structure.
Customized to the client’s specifications, the photovoltaic glass not only reduces the park’s overall energy consumption but also enhances the visual appeal of the installation. The sleek design of the photovoltaic canopy integrates seamlessly with the natural surroundings, aligning with the park’s commitment to sustainability and modern design. This project exemplifies how photovoltaic technology can be tailored to meet specific architectural and environmental needs, showcasing the positive impact of renewable energy solutions in public spaces.
