Villa Florestine Skylight featuring crystalline silicon technology photovoltaic glass by Onyx Solar

VILLA FLORESTINE · MONACO

RENOVATION

Onyx Solar has successfully completed its first project in the Principality of Monaco with the installation of a photovoltaic skylight made of crystalline silicon photovoltaic glass at the iconic Villa Florestine

As part of the building's renovation, now housing Monaco's employment office, the photovoltaic glass was manufactured in nine custom sizes with varied thicknesses and an integrated argon chamber, enhancing thermal insulation. This innovative skylight generates clean, renewable energy, aligning with Monaco's sustainability goals.

Villa Florestine Skylight featuring crystalline silicon technology photovoltaic glass by Onyx Solar

The photovoltaic glass used in this project is ideal for the Mediterranean climate of Monaco, where ample sunlight can be efficiently harnessed for energy production. With a high solar factor and excellent visible light transmission, the skylight maximizes natural light while significantly reducing the building’s need for artificial lighting. Additionally, the glass’s thermal properties help regulate indoor temperatures, reducing reliance on heating and cooling systems, further contributing to the energy efficiency of the building. This installation showcases how architectural beauty and sustainability can be harmoniously combined to meet modern building standards while preserving the aesthetic integrity of historical structures.
