Onyx Solar has supplied amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass for the refurbishment of the skylights at Phoenix House, the headquarters of Phoenix Group, one of the UK’s leading insurance companies. This project is located in Wythall Green, near Birmingham, and is part of a wider sustainability strategy to renovate the building envelope.
More than 1,700 m² of photovoltaic glass skylights have been manufactured and installed. Over 200 different glass models were produced, all featuring a 20% visible light transmission and a 16 mm argon-filled cavity, combining excellent daylight performance with energy generation and enhanced thermal insulation.
The project has been developed in close collaboration with CBRE and COX, adapting fully to the technical and aesthetic requirements of each stakeholder.
