BURSAGAZ HQ · BURSA, TURKEY
Bursagaz, is a prominent gas supplier from Turkey that installed an attractive façade made of amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass in its headquarters showcasing a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. This installation was a key contributor to achieve the LEED gold certification. The photovoltaic glass apart of producing electricity, filters UV and IR radiation meanwhile allows the entrance of natural light in order to maximize the comfort of the Bursagaz's workers.
The integration of amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass at the Bursagaz HQ was a strategic decision, reflecting the company’s commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. The glass features a Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) of 10%, ensuring that ample natural light enters the building while minimizing glare, providing a comfortable working environment for employees. This reduced reliance on artificial lighting contributes to lower energy consumption.
The photovoltaic glass’s solar factor (g-value) of 32% plays a significant role in controlling solar heat gain, particularly important in Bursa’s warm climate. This helps regulate indoor temperatures, minimizing the need for air conditioning during the summer and reducing heating demands in cooler months. This leads to better thermal comfort and lower HVAC energy use, boosting the building's energy efficiency.
Additionally, the photovoltaic glass provides a nominal power output of 48Wp per square meter, generating renewable energy directly from the building’s façade. This not only reduces the building’s reliance on external power sources but also supports Bursagaz’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and achieve sustainability goals. The on-site power generation helps lower electricity costs, making the building more energy-independent.
