NEW CONSTRUCTION
The Environmental Safety and Control Department Building (ESCD) in Saudi Arabia installed a photovoltaic curtain wall using Onyx Solar’s photovoltaic glass. This installation comprises crystalline silicon insulating photovoltaic glass panels designed specifically for this project. They feature a 16 mm thick air spacer infill, ensuring effective thermal and sound insulation, a crucial aspect in an extreme climatic zone such as this. Placed prominently at the main entrance of the building, the photovoltaic glass installation serves as a highly visible feature for all stakeholders. The mission of the RCY is to "plan, promote, develop and manage petrochemicals and energy intensive industrial cities".
The choice of photovoltaic glass for the Royal Commission Yanbu project is particularly well-suited to the region’s harsh climate, where high temperatures and intense sunlight are the norm. The photovoltaic glass not only generates clean energy but also plays a critical role in reducing solar heat gain, thanks to its advanced thermal insulation properties.
