PHOTOVOLTAIC SKYLIGHT

Onyx Solar has completed a new project in Parma Ohio. This time it is a Photovoltaic Skylight in Crystalline Silicon at Cuyahoga Community College.

The photovoltaic installation has a total of 185 m2 of photovoltaic glass in a 6mm x 6mm configuration and with an Argon chamber.
Each glass has a power of 238 W and the total of the installation of 23 kW.

The skylight is capable of generating 777,006 kWh, enough energy to power 1,525 points of light in the facilities.

Thanks to this photovoltaic renovation, the new building is able to avoid the emission of 521 tons of Co2 into the atmosphere.

Designed to provide the university with space for contemporary science, technology, engineering, and math programs, the new Stem center has been designed to be holistically sustainable and is Leed Gold certified.

The photovoltaic skylight is located in the central space of the building and apart from allowing the entry of natural light, it will serve to offset much of the building's energy use.

Program components of the STEM Addition include technology-rich teaching labs for biology, chemistry, physics, and information/technology, a variety of multipurpose spaces.
